HEALTH RISK AND POVERTY
Poverty and vulnerability to health risk reinforce each other. Poverty is a cause of vulnerability. Additionally, vulnerability can exacerbate poverty – the gains made by a family through income-generating activities can all be lost through an illness incident to one member. Thus providing a means for financial access to inpatient care will contribute to decreases in poverty levels amongst the target population.
