Our Programs

India has the highest number of women who die from childbirth in the world. Our services reduce maternal morbidity and mortality and empower women to help their families thrive.

More than 2 million children in India under 5 years old die each year of preventable causes. We give young children the care they need to survive and grow normally.

adolescent girls

Adolescent girls in India lack the nutrition, health knowledge, and self-advocacy skills to flourish in adulthood. Our services set adolescent girls up for success.

Impact

Since Calcutta Kids began, the community where we work has seen a dramatic drop in mortality, morbidity, and malnutrition among pregnant women, mothers, and children.

12600

Number of home visits Calcutta Kids conducts each year

6900

Number of medical consultations Calcutta Kids conducts each year

In 2020, nearly all young children in the Calcutta Kids Child Health Program were fully immunized—a strikingly high number, especially compared to India as a whole.

Calcutta Kids Feature

  • Kanchan S., a Calcutta Kids beneficiary and mom of three, has had tuberculosis twice. Even with treatment, Kanchan continues to experience health complications from TB.

Thankfully, access to vaccines means that Kanchan’s children can be spared the suffering she’s endured. Through Calcutta Kids, Kanchan has vaccinated all three of her kids to protect them from devastating diseases like TB, polio, measles, rubella, and hepatitis.
